Omius technology's amplified cooling effect stems from the absorption of water into the cooling pieces, where its evaporation surface area is 5 times greater. The transformation of water from liquid to gas on the surface of the graphite draws heat from inside the cooling pieces in contact with your skin, cooling it down.

Since the cooling effect is solely determined by the evaporation of water, the effect will continue indefinitely as long as the cooling pieces are wet and air flows across them.

What material are the cooling pieces made from?

The cooling pieces are made of highly thermally conductive graphite that is coated with a hydrophilic coating which optimizes the absorption and evaporation of water that powers the cooling effect.

Do I need to put the cooled pieces in the freezer?

NO! The only requirements for amplified cooling is that the cooling pieces are wet during use, in direct contact with your skin, and uncovered so air can flow across them to promote evaporation.

How long does the technology cool for during use?

The cooling pieces will continue to cool indefinitely as long as they are wet, in direct contact with your skin and uncovered, so air can flow across them.

Why do the cooling pieces not feel cold after wearing them for 5 minutes?

The headband cools via the direct contact of your skin with the graphite. After approximately 5 minutes, your skin’s thermal receptors stop perceiving the temperature gradient between your warm skin and the cooler graphite, perceiving instead the “new normal”. The cooling effect, however, persists and can be detected by slightly shifting the headband so that the graphite makes contact with skin that has not yet adapted to the “new normal”.

Does the technology wear out?

No. The cooling technology will work indefinitely, as long as it is maintained with regular washes and care in handling.

Do I need to keep the cooling pieces wet at all times?

No. The cooling pieces can be stored dry and then wetted again before each use.
